Transition

We are aware that moving to secondary education from the primary phase can present challenges for some, and that young children have to cope with different demands and a changing environment, as they move to High School.

At Corpus Christi Catholic High School we have a dedicated team of Learning Mentors who work with our Year 7 Head of Year, to ensure that this transition is smooth. Throughout Year 6, our staff visit the primary schools to meet with them and the children also have several visits to the school to take part in events such as team sports, science and modern foreign language lessons.

“My experience at Corpus Christi has been fantastic and spectacular and without a doubt I chose the right high school.”

Year 7 pupil

At the start of a new academic year, Year 7 students have a special induction day to enable them to get to know their way round before all the other members of the school return. This enables them to familiarise themselves with both the staff and their surroundings before the other pupils return. We have a special Parent’s Evening within the first half term in order to give you feedback on how well your child has settled into life at Corpus Christi.

Before starting in September, parents of new Year 7 pupils will be invited to an information evening and receive a Transition Guide. You can see last year’s transition guide below:
