Extended Learning Days

Throughout the academic year we hold five Extended Learning Days (ELDs). These days offer experiences which are broader and deeper than those which could ordinarily be offered within the regular curriculum. They offer opportunities for external enrichment for all pupils, such as trips (Liverpool Albert Dock, Manchester Science and Jewish Museums, Lancaster University, St Walburge’s Church), projects, inter-house competitions, and also opportunities to expand on specific areas in the curriculum.

Extended Learning Days often involve input from external providers, such as our Careers Fair in November, which is visited by pupils from Years 8-11, followed by mock interviews for Year 11 pupils. Year 10 and 11 pupils also benefit from GCSE core revision days for English, maths, science and RE, while Year 9 Pupils have a day focusing on their options choices in January. Many of these events have contributed to us fulfilling our careers requirements as one of the very few schools to have achieved all eight Gatsby benchmarks for three consecutive years.

Using the tabs below, you can read and see photos about the Extended Learning Days which our pupils have enjoyed over the last few years, and also look at the timetable of days for the current academic year.
