Our school Advent appeal this year has been fundraising for the Salvation Army, supporting the charity in their efforts to care for local people and families who are struggling at this difficult time. We obviously could not fundraise this year as usual with traditional bake sales and talent competitions, so we decided to run a ‘Mega Whole School Raffle’. Given how difficult this year has been and continues to be for so many people, we wanted to come together as a school to really make a difference.
To get our fundraising underway we produced a promotional video to encourage pupils and parents/carers to get involved and participate in the raffle. Each year group will have a first prize of a large Christmas Hamper followed by smaller prizes for runners up when the raffle is drawn on Thursday 17 December. There is still time to buy tickets and pupils can enter as many times as they like at £1 per entry – money should be paid via Parent Pay until Wednesday 16 December.
We would like to thank all pupils, parents and staff in advance for your generosity and constant support with school fundraising appeals. It is always a blessing to be able to give of what we have to support those who are experiencing great difficulty, now more than ever. To date 17 December our fundraising total presently stands at £1,517.00.
We have again at the start of Advent placed our large nativity scene on display to remind everyone at our school of the reason why we are preparing to celebrate this Christmas. A big thankyou to Mr Gilbert who constructed the purpose built stable with great skill that houses our nativity figures. The three kings have begun their journey and will arrive in time for the Feast of the Epiphany. The crib will remain on display until the end of Christmastide.
