“This is the best week in school I’ve ever had.”
Last week, 56 Year 10 pupils enjoyed a week-long retreat at Castlerigg led by Metanoia Project, who are our school Chaplaincy Team, Corpus Christi staff and two of the Castlerigg staff team.
The theme was “What my Father’s Like”, based on the story of the Prodigal Son in Chapter 15 Luke’s Gospel. We delved much more deeply into who God is and what He has done for us over the course of the week, hearing testimonies from staff about how God is working in their lives, having a beautiful service of Reconciliation with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, which local priests Fr Moses and Fr Ajish joined us for.
We finished the week with a fantastic celebration of Mass, celebrated by Canon Luiz Ruscillo, all together. One pupil in their feedback said “This is the best week in school I’ve ever had.” and another wrote “My faith has grown a lot. I have learnt that God is there for everyone no matter what”.
Another highlight of our week was being able to watch the England vs Mexico World Cup match all together, thanks to the Castlerigg centre being so accommodating. Thank you to all staff involved for giving up their time so generously to ensure that pupils could experience the love of God so tangibly!
“My faith has grown a lot. I have learnt that God is there for everyone no matter what.”
