At Corpus Christi we are very proud of the diversity within our school. Our pupils originate from 34 different countries from all over the world and speak 31 different languages, including Gujerati, Persian and Shona.
Fourteen different countries were represented on our first Culture Day which was held in March. Forty three pupils decorated stalls with flags, rugs and other vibrant materials. Pupils beamed with pride wearing their traditional dress, which were an array of vivid colours, sequins and fabric. A collection of books, money, jewellery and artefacts were on display to educate the pupils; in addition to leaflets which had been designed discussing the history of their country, traditional dress and food.
Pupils and parents attending the event went on a fact-finding mission to answer quiz questions, taste food and listen to music from different parts of the world.
The event provided pupils with the opportunity to discuss different cultures and it was lovely to see pupils communicating with others who are at the start of their language development.
