Our MFL department had the opportunity to take some of our keen German pupils to explore the possibilities of using German in their future. The event was hosted at Lytham St. Anne’s High School, and the sessions focused on how proficiency in German can open doors to diverse professions in fields such as business, engineering, tourism, and the arts. The Career Roadshow demonstrated how diverse and relevant German can be for personal and professional development.
Pupils at the event took part in interactive workshops, inspiring panel discussions and had the chance to browse a small careers fair, where they spoke directly to companies and institutions offering opportunities in German, including the concept of studying in Germany!
The aim of the event was to inspire young people to learn German by showing the real benefits of the language in professional life. Mrs Black and Mr Warham accompanied the pupils as they explored sessions which took place in both German and English and allowed pupils to experience the benefits that studying and speaking German brings first-hand. They gained direct insight into real-world careers where German language skills are an asset, considered the skills that they were building and gained exposure to the international job market, helping to broaden their horizons and prepare them for a globalised workforce.
It was such a lovely trip and our pupils had their eyes opened to a whole realm of possibilities. I think they were also very reassured and proud of their ability, as they shone in the sessions! They were a credit to the school and left inspired.
