On Tuesday 4 July, a group of 15 pupils in Years 9 and 10 took part in the Future Zoo programme at Myerscough College. It aims to encourage young people to consider a career in animal care and welfare. Pupils received an introduction to the various animal-based courses available at the college and the career paths each course can lead to. Pupils then went on a tour of the animal studies faculty, learning about the needs of the animals, viewing and engaging with wildcats, giant rabbits, doves, ferrets, raven, reptiles, arachnids and rodents. In the afternoon they were split into two groups, and given the opportunity to dispense daily care to reptiles or rodents.
