Year 7 Welcome Mass
On Thursday 17th September, our new Year 7 pupils along with some of their family members gathered in the hall for a Mass for the Unity of Christians, welcoming them into the Body of Christ here at Corpus Christi. Each Year 7 form had spent a full day with our chaplaincy team in the previous week, exploring their own faith and beliefs, hearing about what Catholics believe about the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, and preparing for the Mass especially by learning some of the hymns. The Mass was celebrated joyfully by Fr Augustine Obiagwu with pupils participating fully by proclaiming the Word, serving at the Altar, and joining in well with all the responses. The singing was particularly beautiful, led by our very competent choir, but well supported by all present – there may even have been a tear or two from staff and parents who were visibly moved by the celebration. Year 7 have made a fantastic start in their contribution to the Catholic Life of our school and we look forward to journeying with them over the next five years.
