Last week, 86 year 8 pupils spent a two-night retreat at Castlerigg Manor in Keswick. The uptake was so great this year that we had to take two separate groups to give everyone the chance to go.
The theme for the retreat was the Holy Spirit and the pupils responded well to everything they were asked to do including small group work, team challenges, creative workshops and of course prayer.
The highlight of the two retreats was Mass with Canon Luiz Ruscillo, who congratulated our pupils on not just their good behaviour but the respectful way they responded throughout the Mass. He was delighted and greatly encouraged by our school!
Sadly, the weather was poor with the first group missing out on a walk altogether and the second group only getting a short walk to the lake and town. However, the pupils made the best of their time there and all the staff who accompanied them enjoyed their company!
Thank you to Ruth, Joe, Immy, Mr Fetherston, Mr Hill, Mrs Parker, Mr Whittle, Miss Philipson and Mr Warham who accompanied the group, and all of the Castlerigg team for their help, guidance and support.
